In what ways do you think you have improved your professional presence after completing the COMM 333 ePortfolio?

I believe I have improved my professional presence by completing my COMM 333 ePortfolio to utilize it in order to display who I am. These blog posts will show how much I have improved and how I continue to improve. I will be able to show future employers who I really am in an easier to view manner and highlight the best parts of my education.

Identify and explain what you like most about your ePortfolio.

The thing I like most about my ePortfolio is how personal and unique it is. I am able to show a future employer or anyone who views it who I am and what I like in a creative way. Instead of a boring resume that shows only words, I have an ePortfolio that is designed for me along with a resume, a blog, and About Me page, a picture and more. I am happy that now I have something more to show than just a resume.

Which assignment in persuasion that you posted to your ePortfolio was your favorite? Why?

I think my favorite assignment that I posted on my ePortfolio is the analysis of the films because we were able to choose things from our life that we enjoyed and utilize them for a learning experience. I picked “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days”, a movie that I really like, and use tactics and things I’ve learned in my class to analyze it and learn even more about it than just watching it. I also did peer responses for other people after I created mine and I really enjoyed that. I was able to see what different people in my class liked and how they related it to persuasion and the modules we learned.

Identify the most challenging aspect of the ePortfolio.

I think the most challenging aspect of the ePortfolio is still the set up of the site. It definitely took the longest for anything I have done for this Persuasion class. I spent a whole day picking a layout, colors and other themes I liked. I also spent time fixing my resume, about me page, and all of the other aspects that went along with setting up the Wix account. All in all, I am glad this was an assignment for us in the class because I feel like it will be valuable to me in the future not just for other college assignments but after I graduate as well.

What advice would you give to future students about this part of the ePortfolio?

My advice to future students would be to utilize this tool (ePortfolio) to its fullest potential. At the beginning, I thought it was going to be a tedious assignment, however, I honestly enjoyed the assignments and truly believe this ePotfolio will help me in the future to find a great job that fits me.

What component of Persuasion was most interesting to you?

The component of Persuasion that was most interesting to me would be how much of it is in our everyday lives. I never realized how much persuasion affected us and was around until I took this class. Now, I see it in everything. Persuasion is a part of everyday life and I believe it is important to understand it and know how to persuade in an effective way.

Is your view of persuasion different than when you began the course? Why or why not?

My view is very different from when I first began this course. I now see persuasion everywhere and able to use what I have learned to persuade others and realize when persuasion is occurring. I believe it is a valuable skill to have and knowing what persuasion is and the different types is very important to everyday life. I am happy I took this class not only because I was able to learn about different types of persuasion but because I was also able to make something that will be valuable to me long after this class. I truly believe making this ePortfolio has opened many doors for me.
